Yep, it’s already been a month, and Carytown First is back this Thursday. This time, many stores are offering extra specials to help you gear up for fall and back-to-school season.

Pink will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., showing the newest fall styles and giving you 20 percent off of one regularly priced item.

Fab’rik is hosting Fashionista’s BTS Supply Drive. From 6 to 8 p.m., if you bring in a back-to-school supply to donate, you’ll get to choose an apple that will give you 30 percent to 50 percent off your entire purchase, or free accessories. Nice!

Eurotrash will be offering $20 off a full-priced purchase of $100 or more from 6 to 8 p.m.

Some of the other participating boutiques staying open until 8 p.m. include Ciao, It’s Hip to Be Round, Le Visage, Mongrel, Murphies, Roan, West Coast Kix and World of Mirth.

After you do all your shopping, bring your receipt from another Carytown First business to Secco and you’ll get 10 percent off your bill.

Last weekend, West Coast Kix arrived in Carytown at 3016 W. Cary St. This hip sneaker boutique carries high-end kicks as well as apparel and accessories with skater, surfer and urban influences.

Starting this weekend, the store is launching “Weekend Featured Brand” promotions. This time, Local Celebrity, a Los Angeles-based line of graphic tees and other apparel for men and women, is featured, and you’ll get 10 percent off any Local Celebrity purchases all weekend.

Stop in and check out the brand-new built-in display cases and white walls that show off the merchandise.

Juliska pitchers
There are two worthwhile events starting this week at Schwarzschild Jewelers.

The first is a Juliska sale that started yesterday at the Cary Court location and runs through Sept. 30.
John Hardy bracelet from fall 2010 collection
Juliska is a line of glassware, stoneware and giftware that’s handcrafted outside of Prague in the Czech Republic. Each piece is signed and adds European elegance to the home. During this special event, the store has an expanded selection of Juliska merchandise, and shoppers will receive a glass vase valued at $44 with a purchase of $75 or more, or a glass vase valued at $79 with a purchase of $150 or more.

Also, this Friday from noon to 2 p.m. at the Cary Court store and from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Alverser Plaza store, Schwarzschild is hosting a John Hardy fall 2010 preview. Shoppers will be able to see the fall 2010 collection and order early from it, and their purchases will be delivered at the same time the collection arrives in stores. Pieces from John Hardy’s one-of-a-kind Cinta collection, which is rarely on display, will also be available.

Jody Carlson-Astrom, designer and owner of Islay, and Michael Mechaly of H.A 67 will be at Eurotrash on Monday (Aug. 23) from 6 to 8 p.m. You’ll get a chance to meet the designers, see their lines and sip some champagne while browsing.

Carlson-Astrom started her career as a fit model and launched Islay when she wanted layering pieces that would fit seamlessly under low-cut dresses, fitted jackets and more.

Mechaly served as brand president of denim lines Sacred Blue and Coli before launching his own line in 2008. H.A 67 is a men’s and women’s denim line that’s been popular for a while in Europe and Japan, and is now starting to catch on in the United States. The looks are influenced by the 1967 Summer of Love phenomenon. (That’s where the “67” in the name comes from. The “H.A” comes from the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco, which many people consider to be the home of the hippie counterculture movement.)

Mechaly will be bringing looks for men and women for Monday night, so you can bring your man along, too.
