It can be difficult to find the right jewelry to complement a wedding or bridesmaid dress — other than just a single strand of pearls. Fortunately, jewelry designer Meg Carter offers brides a few more options.

Her Alexandria-based company, Meg Carter Designs, sells hand-crafted jewelry from natural materials including freshwater pearls, seashells and semi-precious stones, and her online portfolio includes a wedding collection.

Her work falls into one of two lines: Meg Carter Inspired by the Sea and Town by Meg Carter. Inspired by the Sea is the company’s more traditional line, letting “the fine, beautiful material speak for itself,” she says. Town by Meg Carter features 1950s-inspired pieces with a contemporary edge.
